SERVICES

At Andrew County Sunshine Factory, we provide essential services that support independence, daily living skills, and community connection for individuals with developmental disabilities. From transportation and consumer relations to funding assistance and community partnerships, our programs are designed to meet real needs and strengthen lives across Andrew County.

Programs, Eligibility & Funding

  • The consumer must meet eligibility requirements as determined by the Board.

    1. Individual must be a resident of Andrew County. A current utility bill, phone bill, rental agreement/lease or proof of homeownership must be provided as proof of residency.

    2. Individuals birth through age 5: A measured cognitive score that is less than half of the child's chronological age. There must be at least 2 areas of delay with cognitive being one area. Other areas include social/emotional/behavioral, total language, total motor, or adaptive behavior with a 1.5 standard deviation below their cognitive score.

    3. Individual age 5 and up: Most recent school district evaluation report must indicate that the individual has a measured intelligence quotient (IQ) of 75 or less. There must be at least 2 areas of delay with cognitive being one area. Other areas include social/emotional/behavioral, total language, total motor, or adaptive behavior with a 1.5 standard deviation below their cognitive score.

    4. For individuals who are developmentally delayed but not mentally retarded: Specific medical or health condition diagnosed before the age of 18 that affects two or more areas of functioning. There must be at least 2 areas of delay with cognitive being one area. Other areas include social/emotional/behavioral, total language, total motor, or adaptive behavior with a 1.5 standard deviation below their cognitive score.

    5. These are general guidelines. Each situation will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

  • Guidelines:

    Consumers must be deemed eligible for Sunshine Factory Services

    • CRS has a program cap of $1200 per year.

    • CRS cap is in conjuction with the individual Annual Cap.

    CRS can cover a variety of concerns including tutoring, safety skills, personal life skills and motor skills. A lesson plan book is give to each member of activities that are age-appropriate. The Sunshine Factory will pay licensed provides up to $30.00 per hour for CRS servies. All unlicensed providers will be paid up to $10.00 per hour.

    The cap is $300.00 per quarter which is $100 per month. The CRS program has an individual cap of $1,200.oo in conjunction with the individual annual cap.

    A CRS voucher must be completed and signed and mailed to the Sunshine Factory office (PO Box 413, Savannah, MO 64485) by the 5th of each month in order to receive payment by the end of the month, otherwise payment will not be made to the following month. All vouchers must be received within the current quarter of service.

    All applications must be approved by the Board.

  • Guidelines:

    Consumer must be deemed eligible for Sunshine Factory Service.

    Transportation service/funding is in conjunction with the individual annual cap.

    We fund transportation to and from work, sheltered workshops, and day habilitation. Transportation may be purchased for other services if it does not interfere with scheduled routes.

    Consumer Reimbursed Transportation:

    Transportation is funded at the current mileage rate schedule provided by the Board.

    Transportation service/funding is in conjunction with the individual Annual Cap.

    A mileage voucher must be completed, signed, and mailed to the Sunshine Factory office (106 North Fifth Street, Savannah, MO 64485) by the 5th of each month in order to receive payment by the end of the month; otherwise, payment will not be made to the following month. All vouchers must be received within the current quarter of service.

    All applications must be approved by the Board.

    Bus/Van Transportation

    The Sunshine Factory Bus/Van is available on a first come-first serve basis.

    When scheduling allows, a consumer may be picked up at their door or at a meeting place negotiated by the board.

    Transportation miles are figured using the current mileage rates as provided by the Board and in conjunction with the individual annual cap.

    Transportation services provided by the Sunshine Factory bus/van may be purchased if the consumer goes beyond their individual annual cap.

    All application must be approved by the Board.

  • Guidelines:

    Individual funds may be used for consumer to attend camp.

    Camp reimbursement is funded in conjunction with the annual individual cap.

    All applications must be approved by the Board

  • Individuals may use their individual annual cap to fund services from area agencies. We will provide agencies with information for referral purposes, but applications must be submitted by the client, their parent/guardians, and/or their service coordinators.

Bus/Van Information

  • October 1
    Applications for the upcoming funding year begin being accepted. To request an application, please contact the office at 816.324.7302.

    November 1
    All applications must be submitted by 12:00 PM (noon).

    December 1
    Funding contracts are mailed to approved applicants.

    December 31
    Signed contracts must be received to activate funding for the following year.

    Important Reminder:
    A new funding application must be submitted each year to be considered for funding.

  • While Sunshine Factory makes every effort to operate transportation services as scheduled, severe weather conditions may create unsafe travel situations.

    The following guidelines apply:

    • Transportation services will be cancelled when the Savannah R-3 School District is not in session due to weather.

    • In certain situations, transportation may still be cancelled even if school remains in session. These decisions are made at the discretion of the Sunshine Factory Director and/or Board Chairperson.

    • Clients will be notified of cancellations through an automated phone call.
